Vitour Tempesta P1: SCCA Street Category Approval + Fastrack Backstory
SCCA approval for the Vitour Tempesta P1 was finalized back in February 2025, and since then, we’ve seen strong adoption and results across Solo and Time Trials! That decision didn’t happen overnight. In fact, I submitted a letter to the SEB back in July 2024, with multiple follow-ups over the months that followed. It was finally published in Fastrack as item #36648—and now that some time has passed, I wanted to share a bit of that background here. Below is a condensed version of what I sent to the SEB and SAC:
Dear SEB/SAC Members,
I am formally requesting the inclusion of the Vitour Tempesta P1 in the Street category, as it meets all requirements in Section 13.3 of the National Solo® Rules, including UTQG 200, minimum tread depth, DOT approval, and availability.
The P1 is available in four rim diameters and 13 sizes, with over 30 more planned for 2025. It is distributed through multiple retailers and has remained consistently in stock. Vitour maintains high production capacity and logistics to meet demand.
Testing places the P1 in a similar competitive envelope to the Yokohama A052, Bridgestone RE71RS, and Nankang CRSv2. It offers superior heat tolerance and treadlife, and provides stable performance throughout a session, reducing costs and increasing accessibility for racers.
The P1’s availability in unique grassroots sizes fills gaps left by current market shortages. Its inclusion would benefit SCCA members by increasing options, lowering costs, and enhancing competition.
Vitour has a long-standing presence in the U.S. market, is committed to grassroots motorsports, and is well-prepared to support SCCA racers. Given that the P1 meets all eligibility criteria, I respectfully request its approval for the Street category.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Dallas Reed
The P1 is now fully legal for SCCA national-level competition, and it’s great to see it getting used the way it was intended! It’s also now available in over 50 sizes, with more inventory on the way—Check out what’s in stock and get ready to run.
